Makes totally sense to start warming up in the steam room, relax and then a few #sauna sessions. We enjoy that a lot at /techsauna - maybe you're around #munich some times.

In Quebec we have a lot of "nordic spas" that feature very hot saunas/eucalyptus steams/salt hot tubs and you're encouraged to follow a regimine of hot followed by icy cold bath followed by nap. Pretty incredible way to pass an afternoon doing that on repeat.

I use a sauna almost every day. Bought one for my place. Right before bed and I sleep like a rock after. Other good thing is to go back and forth from cold plunge to sauna for the cold shock proteins.

cons: nothing hazardous pros: if you're after relaxation then whatever combo makes you feel good... if you're being serious about sauna as a stressor then con: mixing in steam is softens it (not recommending being hardcore -- just saying, if you were...)

i don't use them much, but i think it's really just personal preference. the goal is really just to warm up and relax your muscles, although it elevates HR a bit as well. either way you're going to sweat, but in a sauna your sweat evaporates, in the steam room it doesn't

I mainly used sauna plus cold pool. I have occasionally mixed but never quite feel like steam room gives me the same feeling as a sauna!

broscience says you miss gains unless you have a post-workout drink within 30 minutes commercial saunas are supposed to be revved up as you enter one -- if blowing air onto your skin doesn't burn, then my people would consider it too cold (most studies on health benefits are done at 70-90 Celsius).
