As awesome as Alcove is, DynamicLake is so much better. This is what I’ll be using. The file converter alone is so brilliant 🤯 https://youtu.be/7x3OghQngDo

Tesla recalled all their cybertrucks (46k units) in the US because they’re so poorly made 😂 Elon is such a fucking loser.

I have actually been quietly trying to replace more software that’s American-made with European alternatives. The toxic influence of American ideology on systems design tends to infect the very core of a product, leading to guaranteed enshittification. Even American open-source tends to come with an asterisk. What license? Will the only repository be quietly pulled down? Will it rely heavily on third party services that are not free or which face the same risks? As we are entering a new period of global conflict, this time with the US as the villain, it’s going to be important to think about not just what software you use, but who makes it, and what control they have over it. That said, there is room for American software, but only that which promotes user control, privacy, and truly open design.

Just learned Bear is coming to web too. So it will be accessible across non-apple platforms too. Looks like it will still use Sign in with Apple, iCloud sync, and Apple subscriptions for payment so it will be a little cumbersome to get started without at least making an iCloud account, but it will be possible. This is mostly news for those who are Apple first, but use other ecosystems as well and don’t want to limit their access.

X should not be worth more social credit. This creates an incentive for users to remain on X to be verified. Many of us would like to move away from the nazi platform, @v, not be forced to support Elon for caché Go ahead and include it as an option, if you must, but it should be equal to other options.

This is a thought-provoking piece. It’s not super well written, I think maybe due to a language barrier, but there’s some unique ideas in there I think writers and other thinkers here should explore more. https://mirror.xyz/0x0f1F3DAf416B74DB3DE55Eb4D7513a80F4841073/L6xiFan4iIAdDmIjxV65-cgdDhKzj5WjpX80PM5DgHw

With Bukele creating a giant concentration camp for anyone Trump decides to deport, maybe Bitcoin has finally achieved the status of gold… nazi gold.

I’ve been having great success in reducing my “terminally online” behaviour, so I’m going even further: ⏲️ app limits 🧘 focus modes and offline hours 📰 monochromatic mode 🆕 hiding social apps to avoid temptation during leisure time the goal is not disconnection, but intentional use only

I never hear people talk about Bear, but it's such a solid app. Super polished apple ecosystem markdown app with lots of great features. I'm a big fan of Obsidian, of which this is very reminiscent in terms of workflow, but there are little things about it that I find too cumbersome at times. So far Bear hasn't irked me once. It's pretty, charming, and dead simple. Does anyone here use it? https://bear.app/

RIP. I’ve written two pieces over the past year about the importance of peer-to-peer tech like torrents, and owe a debt of gratitude to the folks at TPB and elsewhere who’ve helped enable this tech.
