My first child is being born tomorrow. Baby girl. Super excited. Need some parenting advice from the FC crowd!

Use a babybjorn or other carrier. The only baby product truly worth the investment.

Get a baby carrier that’s ergonomic and you’d be excited to wear. I wore mine hiking, to the beach, doing dishes, during meetings … and she just chilled. Gave me bonding time, the baby a nap and mom a break.

Congrats, my man! 1. Lack of sleep is going to be insane the first 6 weeks, but everyone gets through it. 2. Take as many outside walks as you can with the little one. Helps kill time and makes you feel rejuvenated. 3. Volunteer to do dishes for some of that sweet alone time. Parenthood is amazing, man!

(1) don’t drop the baby. (2) it’s not motor oil, it’s poop. (3) throw away the operator manual, it’s always wrong. (4) (close eyes, gently squeeze, breath deep) OR (open eyes, gently hold, deeply observe), often. (5) move slow, very very slow.

It’s your job to learn who they are, not decide who they will be. Many therapeautic hours may have been saved for parents simply being curious and loving. Dr Gabor Mate has a lot of interesting things to say on this subject

Congrats! The only piece of advice that matters right now is to enjoy every second of it. The stupid old people who always told me to cherish the moments because they go by too quick were right. So I’ll be that stupid old person now.

Congrats!! 1) Do skin-2-skin time in the first couple days. 2) Hold the baby a lot. 3) Stick to some system. Any system. We did "Taking Care of Babies" but the only thing that matters is that you have a plan & aren't debating childcare from first principles at 3:30am.

When my daughter was born, I did a mental calculation that we would likely spend about 10k days together in our lifetimes. This made me truly appreciate every day we have (~0.01% of the supply.) This is especially useful when I was sleep-deprived and covered in throw-ups/saliva/pee/poop etc.

Congratulations! Three keys: 1. Lots of videos and photos -- Google Photos is exceptional here as it does facial recognition on both, auto-upload to the cloud, with albums for family 2. Lots of walks with the new fam 3. Master the swaddle as fast as possible

My sister and I have 9 years in age gap, be super supportive of your spouse as it's common to develop post child birth depression.
