So Chrome banned uBlock Origin. And I pay for the NYT subscription every month. This ad is absolutely absurd. No way can this be considered acceptable lol. Is this really how normies raw dog the internet??

I do, yes. I also think anyone who builds or sells on the internet should too. Gives good context for what bad and good looks like (please no giant hero ad on Uno Home Screen thank you lol)

Firefox starting to sell data for marketing, Chrome deleting the most useful extension of the store, the browser ecosystem seems truly rotten and I can't blame them with the complexity of web standards

I've been giving Vivaldi a go. It's a bit messy out of the box imo, but privacy-wise comparable to Brave.

Been using uBlock Origin Lite that was designed for the new Manifest v3 API for almost a year now, it has been solid. Anecdotally sometimes feels better than the original. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ublock-origin-lite/ddkjiahejlhfcafbddmgiahcphecmpfh?hl=en

I've been pretty shocked by how bad/invasive ads have become. No idea how anyone browses without an ad blocker. Also makes me wonder how much ad revenue is going to be generated from this move by Chrome.

Adblocker plus still works. Brave has a good built in ad blocker as well, so if you want to load other chrome extensions in addition to that I'd recommend it. Alternatively, if you want to stick with Chrome, just load up Stylebot, select the css value of that ad and hide it. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/stylebot/oiaejidbmkiecgbjeifoejpgmdaleoha
