You see Fellow’s new model? Very interested but not sure when I’d use it vs my hario https://fellowproducts.com/products/aiden-precision-coffee-maker

@davidtphung what was that wild pour over device you had in our Airbnb? I feel like Wilson might love it.

If I was buying one I’d shop off the SCA approved list: https://sca.coffee/certified-home-brewer They get certified that they can maintain temperature which is the problem most cheaper batch brewers have. I don’t think you’ll get meaningfully better coffee out of a specifically single cup machine

Depends what you're optimizing for, but if you care about quality while retaining simplicity/repairability and easy to clean then Moccamaster is unbeatable, this is the one I have and recommend: https://us.moccamaster.com/products/kbgv-select There's also a thriving modding community if you're into that. The "select" edition actually took one of the community mods and made it official. Other options have lots of random features (built in grinder or espresso drinks or steamer or scheduling or whatever) but they tend to break after a few years. Pretty sure the Moccamaster will outlive me. For scheduling, I setup a simple smart plug but eventually removed it because it's just so fast that I don't even need to pre-brew. Just hit the button and it's ready in a couple minutes.

The XBloom is incredible @davidtphung @ccarella.eth originally was quite skeptical, but our time and recipes learned from friend Nolan Hirte of proud Mary made us big fans. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-qAa1jxK_n/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

if you want to get really wild, this is what my local shop uses and they dial in perfect coffee looks like poursteady's launching a 2-cup system which conceptually is reasonable for an at-home setup but the current 3 cup retails for ~10k so you're looking at espresso-machine level spend https://poursteady.com

But why would you wanna do this? A huge part of the pour over experience is the meditative flow of doing this yourself.

Can I attempt a mild threadjack and narrow the ask down to brewers with only steel (or ceramic) in the water flow? I have searched far and wide and apparently a brewer that does both of the below does not exist in this universe: 1. Push-button or timed brewing 2. Only stainless no plastic in the flow

I have had good success with technivorm Moccamaster and feel it is pretty close to my Aeropress (and much less fussy and makes several cups at once and I am lazy) https://us.moccamaster.com/collections/thermal-carafe-brewers/products/kbts

They make pour overs faster but not better* *not better than a well trained barista. I’ve definitely had crappy pour overs from baristas that didn’t know what they were doing. So, some auto pour overs will make a better cup than “those baristas”.

Nah, stick with a French press. And also take it up a notch by shaving with this.
