changed my diet significantly while i was in guatemala and inadvertently ran a mini experiment on myself (baseline I was pescatarian before) guatemala diet - a ton of water - almost entirely plant based - much heavier on legumes - eggs each morning - traded breads for corn tortillas - continued to eat a lot of fruits and veggies - continued no meats - continued fish 3-4 times a week notes - it took about 2.5 weeks for my gut to adjust to the legumes. longer than i had expected, but once I did adjust it was completely fine - slight increase in energy levels - felt more awake, i was still lifting heavy in the gym and taking my normal 24h for that muscle group to recover - no food borne illness that I could tell, except one time I ate out and (probably) inadvertently ate pork coming back to the US - it's hard to eat that clean, diets here are really heavy in carbs/bread and cheese - fruits seem to be really pesticide heavy - i had strong allergic reactions to strawberries and some other supermarket fruit for the first time. testing against neighbor's homegrown fruits didn't replicate the reaction i've been really missing some of the corn tortillas so ended up making some at home (with legumes ofc)

two blurry window-seat photos taken 30 minutes apart on the way back from guatemala i loved how the window forced the pictures to be mostly color shades with barely-defined mountain ranges and ocean waves

new coinbase cc feels has the potential to solve the same cold start problem the way farcaster rewards work- getting funds into onchain accounts for people to try out if the credit card rewards can end up working like this 1. suddenly anyone can get a credit card and have an onchain wallet 2. with funds in that wallet they can try out onchain experiences/ buying through shopify 3. for web purchases, it’s possible the cc can switch over to onchain rails

finishing up time in antigua, guatamala with some touristy picture days capturing some of the city been here a month in 1/1 spanish classes 4 hours a day, staying with a wonderful family (that also only speaks spanish), and eating homemade, tipico guatemalteco food

one of my favorite things to do abroad is visit their museum of modern art it’s an amazing perspective shift wherever you are and lays such an intense cultural backdrop to everything you experience walking around the one here in antigua was stunning and reflected their colonial past combined with a desire for recognition of the mayan roots (in direct opposition to the government of the time). some art was also reminiscent of labor movements in Europe as guatemala entered a civil war in the second half of the 1900s
