the /farcaster channel is a bit of a mess. - all new warpcast users follow it - people keep posting in there because it guarantees engagement - that makes the channel followers home feeds low signal i'd like to enforce some norms to make it useful again. if you subscribe to it, what do you think they should be?

Re Farcaster Channel Spam We can totally help you implement various onchain allow list criteria that channels holders can specify and control as desired! https://warpcast.com/betashop.eth/0xdda2b419

genuinely think it’s worth considering deprecating it. protocol conversation can happen in /fc-devs, everything else fits better in other channels

About the Farcaster protocol or greater Farcaster ecosystem, like different clients, governance, what is on-chain what isn’t, etc.

Push only from the team or people you delegate to recast important protocol or app updates. Mostly read only for the vast majority

- no shilling - this isn’t /general or /watercooler - if you could remove the Farcaster mention in the cast and the cast still makes sense, it doesn’t belong

+10000000000 Should be focused on the protocol and ecosystem

I say, start with a 100 Warp channel req to cast and see how that goes. I think /farcaster is at its best when people: • Use it for official news • Use it for live support/help • Offer guides/tutorials and "hey did you know" feature bumps • Announce FC-integrated projects • Share FC-related art etc.

Make it more like an announcement channel for updates to farcaster and important info across the ecosystem Read only and provision people to cast in it who contribute to the farcaster ecosystem

protocol announcements, FIP discussion, builder announcements (although this will be hard to police) obvious engagement farming should warrant a ban

It should mostly consist of parody and fake updates to the platform. Encourage shitposting and engagement farming. All moderators should have to cast in a New Jersey mob boss style. C

What kind of content is posted currently? When enforcing new rules we could mention alternatives in a sticky post, so people have another place to express what they intended. I go to the Farcaster channel if I have a question about the protocol and are looking for experts

i think it has potential as a town square but in the end i think that will be entirely too hard to police

i agree no shills, but I do think it is a valuable place to have discourse on how the web3 ecosystem and DeSo generally can be improved (e.g., sharing paragraph/blog posts could still be useful) I like going there for updates on the protocol and generally to see what people are complaining about/wishing for

It should be: - updates on the protocol - what new things are being build and launched on the protocol - talks about the protocol in general, basically just protocol Maybe it could be read only and cast can be made by hosts only?

My two cents Make it what new people joining it expect it to be: a general discussion about the goings-on of the greater Farcaster project. Then create a separate protocol specific channel with strict rules.

either 1 - a more or less free for all, moderated for spam, nonsense, engagement farming. 2 - clear criteria, and content removed needs a timely explanation and chance to fix if asked. 3- kind of agree with @six on sunsetting. if you veer into moderating what’s “FC worthy” that’s where the red zone starts.

Take your pay to join channel experiment a step further Remove everyone out of the channel and start over Set one price to follow the channel and another price to post into the channel See what happens Or start a new one with these gates

What if it was repurposed to be just for new users and their first X days on FC? Almost with cohorting you’d have those new users interacting with one another and sharing their discoveries there until that channel is no longer there Then for the majority of us the channel gets sunsetted
