two hard truths that made my life better once i accepted them: -20% of people i meet (or don’t meet) won’t like me, maybe for a specific reason or no reason or a dumb reason, its inevitable -there is really no “easy” way to build something valuable, in fact most things worth doing in life aren’t “easy”

If 80% of the people you meet like you, I’d say you’re doing pretty good!

to expand on the first point thats totally out of your control, a lot better to do your best to not care about it

It's funny how simple these sound, but how long it takes for them to actually make sense. In regards to the second, I think I finally understand that "fast" or "easy" generally correlates to "unsustainable" or "easily lost" while the results of long grinds are more durable.

internalizing the first point is so liberating. "People won't like me and that is okay."

The hard truth I got to realize recently was that sometimes even people that you know and rely on for years suddenly can rug your ground and do stupid things. But you must not stop believing in people regardless some are real asses.

Truth. And that 20% can feel like 80% prior to acceptance 🥴

I would expand the first point to 20% of the people I meet are not likable either. Only problem is that in a Venn diagram, it’s not a perfect overlap.

About the social part - I personally never put much effort into understand if I was liked by people or how to change their opinion. I live my way, and as long as your actions aligns with your values and goals, then why care? It’s good to care about what’s out there, but your judgment comes first

on the second: usually the level of reward I feel is directly correlated with the struggle/journey to reach it. easy things have a quickly diminishing reward (because they can be had much more frequently).
