the source once talked to me on psilocybin in costa rica. no joke, since then I renounced being an atheist and become an agnostic plus: still on the fence but leaning towards that there is some sort of divine creator. "Let it go" was what it said, and it was like I didn't author that thought.

have met some of the pastors that were in london/ visited the scene there it’s happening. things are picking up in america too. there’s a youth movement in socal called circuit riders that started in 2011

controversial take: when you have nothing left, you seek god. there's an argument that upward mobility has become harder with each passing generation. with boomers > gen x > millenials > gen z, there's a lot of capital/value stuck at the top and there is less to go around. those at the bottom become hopeless and hopelessness demands faith, which for some, begets religion.

One of the other fascinating shifts in Gen Z religious practice is a shift back towards smaller, more local community and service. That's not to say mega-churches are going away, but I'm seeing a lot of Gen Z folks meeting in coffee shops and house churches. There's also an embrace of more "traditional" values and gender roles, at least here in the midwest. I don't have the time to study this anymore (my BA was in religious studies and I was fascinated with the "why" behind people's beliefs and the society that shaped them). It's really interesting and I wish I could explore it more, though!

I had this conversation like a year ago with my old college roommate. We came to the conclusion that God is becoming "cool" again, and that a lot of millennial turned away not because a lack of faith but because of wanting to be socially "cool" more than devout in faith. And for some reason it was seen as cool to be atheist for the last decade or two.
