One major goal is to open a small, local bookstore. What would a *web3-first* small, local bookstore look like? Or is that an oxymoron?

It has books, and space to sit and read. You can pay with crypto, of course. Also, it has and promotes the many nft books or books with an NFT component. It helps local people to get onchain. Maybe help setting up a first wallet and collecting a first literary NFT: a book, a poem... And so on.

I'm thinking you could take crypto as payments for starters - offer tokenized collector nfts for books bought through your store. People could share their collections with their wallet. Maybe offer bookstore native tokens for book reviews or something. Keeping wishlists would be easy to manage.

Idk but good luck! Maybe it's something like a bookstore / art gallery with some digital displays and a focus on NFT art sales. Could try and maximize use of physical space that way and have an online component to the business which is needed these days. Could have author and artist events.

It may sound like a trivial question, but what is the business model for bookstores these days? I mean, margin from selling books? Events? Book signing that attracts people? Book club hosting? Something else? What are the profit centers?

I have a small local bookstore. Well, a stall in an antiques emporium. This tiny town on the edge of the North Sea is not ready for Web3, but I love the ideas here! https://www.instagram.com/blackfriarsbooknook?igsh=MWQ1ZGUxMzBkMA==

Seminars and workshops to introduce associated tech and tools. QR codes and links liberally posted around the store for related books, music, art, etc not yet available in physical format. Now I want to start one. 😄

finding ways to better support self-published authors would be a nice way to promote a more decentralized system. royalties direct to them via crypto? some sort of crypto kindle type app would be cool too, where anyone can upload anything

Outside of the obvious, would be interesting to host writing sessions all about copyleft and public domain works. You could encourage building on top and modifying things similar to the modularity and open source nature of web3
