I actually think we don't have enough positivity on here. There's a lot of Farcaster toxic positivity, maybe we have enough of that, but there isn't a ton of *crypto* optimism honestly

"Crypto optimism" sounds weird though -- it's like "semiconductor optimism". Yes, I'm optimistic about semi, but the stronger signal is using a smartphone or LLM tools I think we break through when there are crypto users who don't wear sentiment about the rails on their sleeves

I feel like I'm quite positive overall! I think a lot of people get caught up in crypto for the wrong reasons. The goal is not to make as much money as possible - the goal is to build a better internet that enables direct, trustless connections with others while validating digital assets and identities. I think people feel pessimistic because they get caught up in the casino nature of the ecosystem, rather than the computer side of things. But, I also think that platforms are, in general, doing a poor job of communicating this side of things, since everyone is launching protocols and tokens, trying to maximize minting volume to earn via their own protocol. I think instead, we need to focus more on the authenticity and connection building so we can actually create a sustainable ecosystem, rather than a hyped one. The tools are here now (imo), next, we need to have some form of consistent culture that leverages them in an equitable and sustainable manner.

many prominent ppl on farcaster don’t use crypto regularly or hold a significant amount of their nw in crypto. if you are vc funded and mainly want to grow the value of your equity, you probably don’t have strong optimism for crypto rails (or the app layer built on top). just a means to an end, like any other tech stack, and you’ll go back to trad tech if it doesn’t work out. the true believers are also here, of course, but imo it’s naive to assume that everyone here is ideologically aligned with crypto on a deep level.

Crypto optimism comes after some pumps, then people express since their bags are growing! I think we need more diverse discourse here, rather than "moxie farming" and "how early and cool we are".

Hmm. Positivity about what, precisely? I think it's also where you hang out. I like to think I have a couple of positive people in my feed. People who rise everyday and aim to make the most of it, encouraging others as well. Even though it is not always easy. But I would not define that as crypto optimism. What is crypto optimism?
