the reason it feels like a circle jerk sometimes is because fc is a lot of ethereum based founders congratulating each other for going on a walk. we need more arguments. this isnt the fault of fc, and i think it will continue to improve over time. also warpcast seems to be the most diverse among its direct competitors. its great so far but its just early. more clients (music, ig/snapchat/tiktok clones) can bring in more casual users, maybe some who arent even in crypto. a bullish market will also bring more casual crypto people who make good memes. it could be cool if warpcast integrated a multicoin wallet. maybe that would generate interest from legacy crypto projects outside ethereum.

I think trying to get into the “content war” is probably a losing game. Look at Netflix, Disney, Spotify trying to lock in big players to get users attention. Farcaster is a social graph, Warpcast is an instantiation of that graph via a Twitter-ish clone. Farcaster wins if you can make this the most successful social graph to be a part of.

we need a way to create a profit motive for users creating valuable content (besides niche token tipping e.g. $degen et al) like a microtransaction substack or something that works seamlessly for content creators, dumps usd or whatever into their account monthly

a chronological "latest" feed option is what's needed to reward poasters the current algo favors large accounts, so smol accounts feel discouraged to post because they don't get interactions even if they gain a follower on here, the algo makes it unlikely that follower will ever see their posts in the home feed level the playing field with a chronological + reply bumping feed (basically Twitter's "latest" feed) and people will be more motivated to post again this also solves the home feed's "stale" problem, most of the time the posts on there are >1 hour old crypto moves fast, a feed with posts >1 hour old is useless for monitoring the ecosystem chatter

Better UX - would love to have more timetable features like on Reddit, Trending, Hot - with different time spans so not only the most recent content is relevant. Setup of more non-crypto channels - integration of external news feeds to fill those channels if nothing is yet on there, but which would allow people to directly comment those topics and nurture a grassroots channel buildup.

Better algo may help too. To surface the best content. When I brought this up a few weeks ago I was told to unfollow people. But Twitter doesn’t tell me to unfollow to get a good feed 😂 I gave this same feedback a year ago too but team seems more focused on low priority items atm

I think Farcaster is fine for now. Keep in mind Warpcast has an initial cost still which does knock out a lot of spam. Conversations here are great, but I'm skeptical rapid growth in the next year is optimal. At the moment I still get news from brands and organizations I follow on X, so switching costs are high for now. Farcaster will grow, but it will take time.
