Tell me about public blockchain apps that do not involve objective money or objective identity, which require strict global consensus, why they should be built on public blockchains, and why haven't they been built yet? I'll consider writing a post, when I get back to it, to explain why it does or doesn't make sense

I have read most replies, and I'm sorry for not replying to them individually. Generally, for most cases cited, I'm missing arguments for why strict global consensus is required - a lot of it can be achieved better with local consensus or just peer-to-peer, or hybrid apps with one or two elements on public chains.

Here’s two apps that would be best built on public blockchains: Global education standards and certifications Immutable global publishing or media network that anyone can use to access, publish or verify information

a land title registry -- a db of all land, who owns that land, and what rights/liens are associated with that ownership requires consensus so there are no disputes and so ppl can buy/sell with confidence needs public blockchain because govts illegally confiscate land idk if its been built or not

depots & dispatchers. the public should have some credibly neutral record of where valuably useful things are stored, how they can be procured, and where they should be utilized before being stored again.

Basically all DePIN apps/networks are meant to crowdsource infrastructure from the public. The application isn't onchain money or identity, but they use onchain money and identity to align incentives. What are your thoughts on DePIN?

Attribution across brand loyalty points Eg McDonald’s should be able to vampire attack the people with top 5% of Burger King loyalty points Enables a more competitive brand marketplace/discovery leaving the consumer better off. Attribution is what made fb and google big because they charge ads for this stuff

After making a few on-chain mistakes in the past couple of days, I am pretty sure something like that will never exist on L1 without compromising its integrity. On L2s, yes, but it won't be truly permissionless. An example would be Nightfall.

- every ai generator (image, video) to attest that an output was altered with or created by ai. Every social media platform that gets that output shared to be able to flag it as such. Reduces deepfake issues and introduces authenticated media

metaverse world rules/logic (snow crash inspired). Can’t have hidden rules in a metaverse that can benefit subsets with access to cheat codes, especially as it becomes more enveloping All game logic should be public.

Money and identity are key building blocked for an ecosystem Not all apps need money and identity but if they want to be part of the ecosystem there should be something that ties it all together. In web2 it's usually SSO and permissioned APIs. An open ecosystem needs an equivalent without a trusted centralized party

First can you define something of importance that represents a disassociation of money and identity as you describe? Is skateboarding free of money and I identity? I need to be a person to skateboard and I need money to buy it. If I do it well I can get paid.

I think IP applications could benefit from public blockchains while not being entirely about just money or identity - more about permisionless (or semi-permissionless) collaboration / remixing

Can you give some examples about possible public blockchain apps that require strict global consensus? Everything that I can think of right now has some form of identity for achieving consensus.
