in 2015 one of my coworkers thought it would be funny to sign me up to both Trump and Clinton’s campaign text messages and have them fight for my vote. i have tried to unsubscribe every single year for the last ten years. and yet still on a first name basis. make it stop :(

There really is at some point - a point where you have too much information. What I mean by this, is that there's only so much you can read about before doing something. At the end of the day, there's only so much you can read about. A few years ago during the pandemic, I got really into the idea of paramotoring. Well, I'm in lockdown, and if I want to do something crazy like Paramotoring, I could read up on paramotoring. Well, so I looked up how do I do it, what to do when the engine cuts out, how high can I fly, how much does it cost, what do I need etc etc I could keep reading. I could become an expert, even. But I still haven't done it. At some point I have to fly, it's like reading about swimming but never jumping in the pool because I'm afraid of drowning or something At some point, you've got to fly, at some point you've got to just take that dive. I think there really is something as too much information, there is a time to read and prepare, and then there is a time do and act and do and act

Feel like too many creator platforms focus on creator to fan relationships and not enough on fan to fan relationships.

MAJOR RECEIPTS UPDATE! 🧾 Photos/videos are now live in the latest version. 📸 We were so inspired the past month seeing everyone sharing receipts of their workouts, but we *really* loved it when the receipts were accompanied with sweaty faces, photos of hikes, and finish line snaps. You can now upload media along with your workout. Workout stats will be overlaid on top of photos & videos for easy receipt sharing. We're introducing emoji reactions too, so you can cheer, congratulate, and support everyone doing hard shit. 🦾 Only workouts that have photos/videos or edited titles/descriptions can be emoji reacted to (this will make a lot more sense with our upcoming visual feed 👀).

“Sam Altman was smart enough to realize that the tech industry needed a new ‘thing’ — a new technology that everybody could take a piece of and sell — and while he might not really understand technology, Altman understands the growth-lust of the larger economy” Great read h/t @july https://www.wheresyoured.at/subprimeai/

This important difference: Farcaster is a “sane” app. Twitter is a complete insane asylum because there’s no structure. Farcaster feels like there’s enough structure that you can get your head around it in a normal way and at pace. Granted, part of this is because of scale. But the zero structure format of Twitter is obviously inferior to having channels which can help you both segment information and find what and who you are looking for.
