Use platforms like X, LinkedIn and YouTube to share thought leading pieces from your founder. Take advantage of speaking sessions and podcasts to amplify their voice. Involve them in marketing campaigns to create a stellar customer experience for users e.g. CZ serving pizza at a Bitcoin Pizza Day events organized by Binance. That’s it for reason number three, I’ll be tossing the pen back to @valucop to give us point four. ==) Need a marketing strategist for your Web3 project? It is the process of building a personal brand for the founder of your Web3 company, highlighting their vision, values, and expertise. The goal is not to separate them entirely from the business but to use their influence to drive visibility and traction for their Web3 projects. A strong founder brand will: —> Build credibility —> Attract investors, developers, and users to your project. —> Differentiate your project from the crowd. How to do it👇

8 reasons why Web3 projects fail (and how to avoid them). Point 3: No founder branding. In Economics they teach you, the business is separate from the owner(the concept of being a legal entity). And I never understood that till I started my own business. Sometimes, your friendship and business principles collide and you have to make a choice. Usually, I hold on to that concept as the ultimate rule. In an extended approach, Founder branding fits this concept. Open Cast 👇

The second reason why Web3 projects fail at marketing(and how to avoid it). Like @onyeka said it’s not only the marketer’s fault. Let’s dig in: When I started attending Web3 events, I vividly remember one of the Blockchain conferences with speakers from different projects One speaker got on stage and launched into a whirlwind explanation of their project: phrases like "layer-2 scaling solutions," "ZK-rollups," and "decentralized governance frameworks" were thrown around. In as much as I understood what those terms were, I was lost within the first 30 seconds. Looking around, I could see others in the audience zoning out too. We forget quickly that the Web3 audience is not limited to devs only... But then, another founder came on stage. He didn’t start with technical specs or industry buzzwords. Instead,

he told a story: “Imagine you’re sending money to your family overseas. Right now, you pay high fees and wait days for the transaction. Our platform makes it instant and nearly free.” Instantly, the room was hooked. His solution wasn’t less technical than the first—it was just communicated in a way that anyone could understand. That moment taught me a critical lesson: lack of clear messaging isn’t just bad marketing—it’s a fast track to losing your audience entirely. How to Avoid It: To simplify the complex, start by understanding your audience. What are their pain points? For instance, if you're building a decentralized storage solution, don't dive into how your sharding algorithm works. Instead, tell them a story about a photographer who never has to worry about losing precious files again. Develop an elevator pitch that highlights your value in under 20 seconds...

Practice explaining your project to someone outside Web3—if they don’t get it, simplify it further. Clear messaging is about meeting people where they are. Because if they don’t understand your value, they won’t stick around long enough to discover it. This is the second in an 8-part series on why Web3 projects fail and how to avoid it. Passing the pen back to @onyeka to give us reason number 3! ==) Need a marketing manager for your Web3 project? Send me a DM.

Do this instead: —> Take an educational approach Educate your audience on why your project matters, rather than simply hyping up speculative gains. Create a hub of resources showing and telling people how your project impacts the ecosystem. —> Change the narrative. Build a value-driven narrative that highlights your project’s utility e.g. what users get when they use your product, how your product is better than its Web2 counterpart, customer feedback, case studies of successful customers, etc. This is the first in an 8-part series on why Web3 projects fail and how to avoid it. 8 reasons why Web3 projects fail at marketing(and how to avoid it). Trust me, it’s not only the marketer’s fault. Let’s dig in: The first reason is Focusing on Hype Over Substance This is the most obvious problem and still the most ignored. Founders like quick results and as a response, marketers rely on hype-driven campaigns e.g. “Let’s do a Telegram promotion.” “Let’s do an airdrop announcement.” “Oh, let’s pay that influencer.” The result is a throng of people who do not care about your project. Don’t fall into that trap. Do this instead👇
