Americans discover they can open the window to get fresh air as a new life hack... Btw in Germany this is not a fall ritual. It's a daily ritual.

Wait, why is this only a German ritual? Lüften ist wichtig! Isn't it normal to ventilate your rooms in other countries? You need fresh oxygen and stale air has to go out. Or do they use ventilation systems… Now I have to read the article.

I could not not open the window for a day (or even half a day), it'd feel like I'm suffocating myself

i wish i had the sweet back-doors i had in Germany (and windows) where you turn the handle one way and it opens and you turn the handle the other way and it folds down to open.

Is this done regardless of temperature? I’m all for opening the windows for a little while even if it’s freezing out, but not so much when it’s 100 F / 40 C

The reason you don’t have these rituals in the US and other countries is because most of them have and use central ventilation systems or more-or-less open architecture where the climate allows. German architects sell passiv ventilation with no need to open windows as a feature and charge extra. 🤷‍♂️
