This is a great thread more people should read + engage with. But the problem isn't about Warpcast being open vs. closed source. The problem is developer creativity. Sharing some thoughts below...

I was just standing beside someone who ordered a literal soy latte. I think until this point I didn't even realize that soy lattes exist as an actual drink; my mind only recognized the term "soy latte" as a standardized culture war slur that the opposite tribe sometimes uses against my archetype.

Right, so then why are we having a conversation about something so far down the priority stack. I think open source Warpcast would be good! But it's not a top priority and developers in the ecosystem (like yourself) never ask it to be. Feels like it's a strawman argument that set of users on the network use to criticize. We're fine ignoring them, since we're focused on the developers that have skin in the game.

I have 100,000 accounts under my control. I publish new messages privately to my block to make it win. I also control 101 miners. I now rotate programmatically between the miners with my bot accounts (so to maximize my block score). Now legitimate casts are stuck waiting?

Three ideas for content on Farcaster that I would engage with: - Legal summaries: review recent crypto court cases and post short digestible summaries. - Ethereum research progress: what is going on over at Eth Magicians? What EIPs are hot? - Transaction spotter: post interesting onchain transactions with commentary

Independently built LLMs will exhibit the same bugs, and so will independently built TEE, or ISAs given enough time and complexity.

Chasing users fleeing another platform is not a long-term valuable strategy. Effort is better spent trying to figure out the compelling reason for people to join the network independently. If you have that, then you can use sudden external entropy to help grow. But sign ups for the sake of sign ups don’t matter.

I just sent @baseddesigner.eth 15% of the reward for the Base Token Store Onchain Summer Buildathon prize. In the early days of Base Token Store, I asked the community for help designing. Everyone wanted upfront payment (which totally fair, btw) But Max gifted me a beautiful figma design that same day with no expectation of return. He just wanted to build cool stuff. I never met him. I don't know what his voice sounds like. But I know he is based af. And ultimately he was rewarded with a bounty that far exceeded any commission that I was initially offered by others. Build and you will be rewarded. Congrats, Max. I know I will continue to see gorgeous designs coming from your studio for years to come. https://basescan.org/tx/0x308a8747ec3730f7ce13972f93569d126ced15be27896a57258569356fe558f3

There has been a lot of hard work put into funding wallets but we still ask too much to ask of users How do we get to something that looks like this?

I'm super excited about Basenames‼️ Dutch auctions for Basenames make sure everyone gets a fair shot at securing their identity on @base. It's a great way to stop bots and help real builders get their names. Prices drop quickly over the first 36 hours, so a little patience goes a long way. After that, premiums are gone, and normal pricing kicks in, making it easier for everyone to join in. Get your name, get based, and build on Base!

“You should add this feature, it can’t be that complicated” This is unfocused. New features create tech debt and make the team move slower. They also don’t solve the most important problem. Unfocused startups fail. Staying focused is hard. Here’s PG on focus:
