The president of Argentina has apparently done a gigantic rug pull on his own citizens after announcing the launch of a cryptocurrency token which was immediately rugged by insiders after running up a huge valuation. It was unclear whether Milei was hacked or personally directed it but he later posted on X denouncing critics of the launch. This is much worse than a meme coin because he claimed the coin would have utility and even help the Argentinian economy. And we wonder why the masses struggle to take it seriously 🙄 It’s too bad, because I feel like global economics in countries with traditionally hyper inflated fiat benefit most from crypto, so it almost seems worse for this type of behaviour in regions that would benefit the most 😔

Was just listening to a podcast and the thought: Countries should give up CBDCs and just do memecoins. People want to gamble. As much as it probably was a rug pull, its hilarious that anyone even bought this grift.
