The theory is that Facebook is investing in open source AI as a compliment to their business. What that misses is that their business is not only about showing people content, but also about enabling people to create content for others to consume. Replacement that side of the equation, and it becomes nothing but a pure attention farming play. Maybe profitable, but also devoid of soul.

In the year 2000, this album was the weirdest thing I’d ever heard, and nothing like OK computer which had blown our minds a few years earlier. Now it sounds beautiful but also somewhat pedestrian. Amazing how it has left its mark on so much music since.
