🌶️ take: yoga is overrated. like much of health / medecine it is a cookie cutter solution for all. Instead, everyone should have a “flow” of hyper-personalized combination of stretches and strength exercises that target *specifically* their body weaknesses and ailements, provided by a physiotherapist.

personalization causes analysis paralysis as an infrequent yoga goer i find the simplicity of joining any studio a huge plus i almost always feel better (limber) after i go

By yoga do you mean asana? That's the stretching stuff. The point of asana is to help prepare your body for meditation (it's hard to meditate if your body aches) And so if it's solely used outside that context then I would agree with you! Very overrated.

I have been trying out some tai chi and qigong this summer and am liking it so far. Still do some yoga stretches too.

Unfortunately what most people consider Yoga is just one of the eight parts of the original Yoga Sutras or teachings called Aasana. The only purpose of Aasana is to make the physical body strong and flexible enough to sit through extended periods of medication.
