Decided to run my first marathon April ‘25 (Paris Marathon). Going (almost) from couch to marathon in 8 months. Any tips?

You have loads of time. Build slow. Rest, sleep and and strength training. 10 mins of mobility and strength 3 times a week can make a remarkable difference. Also get a training programme, it takes a huge mental load off.

I was never the fastest runner but PR was 3:45 8 months is plenty of time to prep! - make sure you hit 22 miles (35KM) once or twice - when I ran I did 3-4 runs a week, with one of them being a distance run that added 0.5-1 mile per week - get in tune with your gut before those long runs (coffee helps) - my fastest time happened when I regularly did squats 1-2x a week

Enjoy the road to raceday 💪 Make sure to have a balanced plan that includes enough distance, slow trainings but also rest weeks with less km’s/miles. Plenty of plans to find, I like the free Trenara app but there are enough apps like that

Get fitted with a solid pair of shoes two months before the race.

Don't eat too much on the day after the marathon. At least not at night. You won't want that food to show up in the middle of the race
