Where do people currently stand on remote vs. in person? At least for an early stage iterating and changing fast, my view is that nothing beats being in the same room.

+1 IRL brainstorming can't never beat a remote call. I can tell by our experience, since we got an office, things are moving faster and implementing new strategies

been working at home for 3y and def miss the ‘being in the same room’ part. it’s faster/easier to actually communicate/collaborate, more powerful, less open to distractions. a good mix for me would be 2 remote / 3 in person however, the space’s global nature and its stage makes remote more fitting for now

I have been working remote for the last 3 years. I am extremely tired of working from home. Nothing beats IRL interaction and I actually believe people are more efficient when working IRL together. A good mix of work from home and office would be the best for me.

These days internet communication is extremely efficient, and IMO it's just as productive. Depends on the people you want to hire too - I'm at a stage in my life where I wouldn't work at an office-based startup because the hours are so long and I need to fit the work around family. I can still do the hours if remote.

Hmm from a marketing standpoint, remote or onsite had the same efficiency You either bundle up content to send for review or chase the co-founder in person in between meetings for feedback

Working at one of the world's largest distributed companies (Automattic), I can tell you tat nothing beats IRL if you wanna innovate. For early-stage startups these days, start from a hybrid setup, which keeps both options open for a while until you figure out PMF and hiring constraints.

Remote is fine if you have a good team. But it gets boring and mechanical.

With the proliferation of internet world over to even third and second world countries, remote work is going to dominate in the coming years. Also Covid-19 forced people to start working remotely and most have continued that way ever since and don't want to go back to physical offices! Anyway it all peesonal choice!

Remote will be the new norm as spaces become increasingly digitised. I think within the next 5-10 years remote work + VR/AR will be more productive and feature rich than in person time.

I truly think it depends on the individual. Introverted people might find it easier to interact online, thus preferring remote interactions. However, those with greater social skills, who are extroverted, usually prefer in-person interactions.

IRL meetings vs zoom meetings is 200% more efficient. It cuts meetingtime in half, understanding is immediate. Video calls need more (social) structure. Chitchat is important ;)

Both work but require different skills & approaches. I’d hate to see crypto abandon remote due to the control mindset of those who can afford offices & housing in expensive markets. Because then we would lose some of the immense, worldwide, asynchronous, writing-based talent that remote unlocks.

We have a fully remote team but getting together once a month always has important results. It’s impressive what little questions pop up that would have never been discussed. Maybe fully in-person would be nice, but everyone’s preference of remote aside our runway would have been shot soo fast!
