As a user with a Farcaster account, I'd rather see someone's Farcaster username in your app than their ENS. I interact with people's Farcaster username, not their ENS. The namespace more closely associated with online identity and my social graph will win.

Farcaster will add messaging to the protocol and will win over all other messaging protocols because Farcaster will be the dominant namespace. I want to message your Farcaster username, not your address or ENS. And the spam tooling that solves spam on Farcaster will also solve messaging spam (@neynar).

yeah that makes sense if you're a farcaster user, ENS will always have more users tho so for dapps it makes more sense to integrate it, but yeah why not both (could link your farcaster acc to your ens name too)

I kind of agree, AND I like the portability of ENS names right now. It’s nice to see the same name across governance/farcaster/mints

The Farcaster username <> Ethereum address connection is under-utilised rn.

I prefer ENS over Farcaster usernames because they're more secure. Farcaster usernames are controlled by the merkle team and aren't truly owned by users. Once I could switch to ENS, I did

ENS is permissionless, Farcaster username isn't. ENS is too complicated and expensive though. We'll figure it out

I don't think we have to choose between the two paths? @dwr.eth isn't the plan already that farcaster names will become accessible as an ENS subdomain via CCIP, similar to how status works/worked with *.stateofus.eth? We're going to get namespace competition via L2s anyway, ENS just makes it interoperable.

i wouldn't sleep on cb.id - it's gaining tons of adoption amongst normies And ENS is still very dominant, as example 50% of all ETH Global 2023 attendees have ENS https://warpcast.com/betashop.eth/0xae9e0976

(3) And many apps are just making it easy for users to find their Frens across both Farcaster Lens and ENS you can see both FC and Lens in action at explorer.airstack.xyz just type "Kyle"

(2) we're seeing many apps move to Universal Contacts or Frens Lists that combine who you know from Farcaster, Lens, who you sent tokens to, and more

+1 to this, I have a feeling we’ll start seeing Farcaster expand to other apps and/or show up in place of other identities(like ENS) https://warpcast.com/dylsteck.eth/0xf83b2639

Agree BUT would like to see option to also display ENS with link to etherscan. Practical reason β€” then I don’t have to ask if I need the ens to send airdrop etc Another resolve to this would be a way to airdrop to FC name that could drop to connected wallet of choice.

For public facing personas and conversation, it will. But on an open permissionless messaging world, exposing you public namespace is the equivalent of publishing your phone number for anyone to message you. It would be weird to have 2-3 Farcaster accounts, whereas a ms wallets are easier to handle

What if we could just verify our Ens that way, instead of username change. ensip-15 with recent normalized ens names should be possible then ?
