english native speakers, i’m just curios when you watch european/asian series/movies, do you watch them in the original language with subtitles, or in english anyway?

both, it depends. these work perfectly in English imho: early Jet Li movies, Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns, any anime. then there are cultures which are basically English-adjacent, where the dubs don't lose very much: Scandinavian films, anything in German, Bollywood

always in original language. i find it more enjoyable to hear the intonations and learn how emotion, especially humor/sarcasm is conveyed in different languages. plus, i cant handle the lack of syncing between lips and dialogue if it’s in english

depends on how alert my brain is feeling tbh if sleepy, then watch in english if awake, then watch in native language with subtitles
