surprised how often i still hear “but why will they have value?” when suggesting token designs that are on the memetic side of the spectrum there are many different ways to create tokens people want, and making one that just feels good to own because of the belief system that it represents is a very valid and fundamentally important one

The potential value = self-identity. Same reason people buy clothing with certain brands, drive a certain car, etc. What needs to be solved for with memetic tokens is making that potential value less ephemeral and easily replicated.

yea the thing is that the belief systems are often more flimsy than people realize when price is going up, so that's usually the perspective behind this question

people believe in the fact that it feels good to hold a token that goes up in value they carry that belief with them from token to token, rapidly cycling through shells of memes and narratives but identification is nonetheless a valid, extremely powerful thing

most don’t have value, few went beyond speculation into something people want to be part of those are the only designs that work, less tokenomics, more community

Literally every 20-something I meet these days says they hold at least DOGE when I tell them what I do. It's a definite cool, "part of something bigger than themselves that could make them "rich" someday" thing.

value = sustained marginal net buy pressure people can want to own and more people should want to own it (at higher prices) in the future
