surprised how often i still hear “but why will they have value?” when suggesting token designs that are on the memetic side of the spectrum 

there are many different ways to create tokens people want, and making one that just feels good to own because of the belief system that it represents is a very valid and fundamentally important one

The potential value = self-identity.

Same reason people buy clothing with certain brands, drive a certain car, etc. 

What needs to be solved for with memetic tokens is making that potential value less ephemeral and easily replicated.
