I’m writing down a list of tips/behaviors for high performance operating. E.g. Close the loop. If you say you’re going to do something β€” do it. And then tell the person you did it.” What are your best high-performance operating behaviors?

I'm looking for the *best* designer that wants to help shape tools and products for the entire crypto industry. I'm open to folks who want to chat -- either as candidates or for networking purposes. Who should I talk with?

The crypto ecosystem is so small ... your reputation goes very very far. When recruiting for certain roles, particularly senior/exec and highly specialized technical roles ... the real strategy is to just network your way to the elite talent and nerdsnipe them on your problem space.

Every team has different opinions on this. I think most would be happy to bring on strong web2 folks with an interest in crypto. Certain teams/roles require deeper crypto exp. My observation is if a team is doing novel crypto work (ZK, rollups, MEV, etc.) they tend to want prior experience in web3.

Broadly, yes. Anyone with skills traditionally found in web2 that can be used in web3, and I include graphic/visual designers. Most likely teams want this on a contract basis because they may not have a full-time need for it OR they try to roll this in a Product Design role that can do a bit of graphic on the side.

I would check VC job boards and marketing/design centric websites -- Read.cv and Dribble are a good start, but there are others.

Agreed on a poor image/perception of web2 talent. I think most view the industry as interesting technically with few real use cases outside of scams and ponzi schemes. And agreed on lack of experience building teams -- most founders are technical research/eng/product and learning recruiting 101.

Both. Teams spend a ton of time doing outreach, filtering, and interviewing to get the right match. Candidates are in a tough job market. Web2 not aggressively hiring outside of AI, which is Uber competitive. Web3 is just picking up but teams are picky.

I'm curious if this tracks with others experiences/perspective or if folks are seeing anything else.

My experience so far: - Demand for web3 talent is up through Q1. - Most open roles: product/eng/design and GTM (BizDev + marketing). - Supply of talent entering web3 is flat; web2 talent hard to attract. The next 3-6 months will be a slog until crypto gets back into mainstream and we see an influx of new talent.
