Is there a better word than "normies" to describe people who have never done anything in crypto before? I am building Base Colors with the intent of making it appealing, accessible, and affordable for normies but I don't love the word so I've instead been saying "people who have never done anything in crypto before".

@fredwilson.eth shot in the dark but as a master communicator maybe you have a suggestion here? I'm sure it would be helpful for you to use as well. Or maybe you are fine with "normies".

people new to crypto, crypto initiates, first-time crypto users, people without a wallet, non-crypto natives lots of ways to describe it. normies is a dunk term that reflects poorly on the person who uses it.

agree than "normies" is alienating and approaching cringe territory. already suggested, but i tend to say "mainstream users" as well

O don’t like the word either. And I don’t know a better one. But I totally dislike the idea to label people. So even if it is a bit long, I would go with your sentence. Or just: people interested in crypto / people new to crypto.

Building on the many “newcomers” reply’s, what about: Crypto freshmen? Onchain freshmen? It’s a well known term from college so not 💯 inclusive perhaps and also it sounds gendered They also see web3 with fresh eyes 👀 which is valuable for the space Otherwise newcomers.

Crypto curious, fiat miners, off chainers, degens in training, the uninitiated. Just having some fun here. 😊 I think "new to crypto" works well. 🎭

newcomers, greenhorns, learners, new arrivals are all nice as well feels like "normie" is a little condescending, and i've seen "recruit" used but it sounds cultish i think
