i was peeking into some local archives today for some stuff i do i came across this court charge from 1761 for "breach of the Sabbath law" one guy carried some grain to the mill, one guy ground it up i had to laugh, 260 yrs doesn't seem like a long time ago but gosh how the world, and how we live in it, has changed

sometimes i scoff at those book reviews that are like "omg i couldn't put it down!!!!"... wdym then abt once a year - just long enough to forget - i find myself so engrossed in a book that i pick it up every chance i get, & make time for it & let it occupy every second of my free time, & once i finish the book there's a cozy feeling i get whenever i think abt it... as if i don't know quite enough yet but i'm happy with what i do know, a very free feeling i just finished one ofc anyway, i was wondering why this is, like why a story can pull us in so relentlessly. my thought is that the author has not only made the content seem relatable to you somehow - maybe a plot or character or AoE or location - but also makes you ask more questions than they are answering, so you're always at the precipice of *not knowing quite enough*

today was a frigid day on the harbour, windchill -25C i tried to get a pic of the sea smoke here... a really lovely type of fog that appears when the water is considerably warmer than the air gusting over it look for the white caps... except they aren't white caps, they're little patches of sea smoke 🌫️
