Iโ€™ve seen mods deal with death threats. Iโ€™m thinking taking that much heat warrants a lil payment.

Ideally mods get paid in some way that is sustainable and incentivizes long-term community health

Yes. For one, it's work that can be soul crushing e.g. NFTs. For another reason it gives them leverage to demand better tools from the platform and/or create better tools.

Of course, donโ€™t understand why it is a question in the first placeโ€ฆ They serve an important function - โ€˜voiceโ€™ of the brand, maintain community safety, troubleshoot issues, customer service amongst many other functions. They absolutely should get paid.

Million percent! Often times they are the ones keeping the whole community together while artists (like me) get to go create. They should absolutely get all the flowers, fringe benefits and good pay

Genuine question. Why wouldnโ€™t they be? Do they not provide value and a service?

For small communities: no. And anon mods are not a problem. For big communities: yes. And they should not be allowed to be anonymous. Otherwise a decent percentage of them start toxic behavior (accepting bribes, vendettas, et cetera)

Yes IMO. First and foremost because a personโ€™s time has value. And second, because the whole community benefits from the efforts put in by those individuals!

Iโ€™ve thought about one way of doing this is each user stakes x amount (say 10 cents) to join a community. Staking rewards accrue to admin. This way they can at least gain value for curating a high quality community
