let's say you have 3 types of users using your product, but you need to cater to one how do you decide which user type to focus on?

There’s too much « it depends » here. Aiming for revenue or adoption? Is it actually 3 types of users or 3 types of use cases (it’s different)? What is the change you want to be in the world? No one can really tell you how to prioritize. That’s your job, yeah?

whoever is gonna make you the most money. And whichever group you think you’ll retain better. more users does not equal more money

The type you're going to see using your product the most (in terms of quantity of users) But need to also consider monetisation and cater to the most users who are going to make your project sustainable / profitable In some cases you can cater to one that assures quicker growth without revenue to then cater to another one

Seeing the rebrand, I’d focus on the channel owner / bigger account They’re a) more willing to pay today and b) likely willing to pay more today While I personally benefited from it to grow from a small following, I think it’s something I’d focus on later as an onboarding flywheel Once you’ve exhausted the bigger accounts willing to pay for tools to build their business, channels, etc you can build the tools to expand that pool of business and channel owners on FC by helping them grow their followings

A few things. - Which user can you more readily reach? Or is an underserved segment? - Does one user type allow you to beachhead into a different type of user? - if B2B, what’s the LTV and CAC of each user type?

run experiments against each one until you have conviction. identifying the personas is just the beginning of the process of committing to one.

throw in and run some user surveys ser. there’s some great advice in the replies. user surveys might help you validate/invalidate some of your theses and guide you accordingly. intuition is 👍 but data+intuition is 💥

I would run some surveys to see which is the best target group. If you are going to factor in monetization you could run multiple polls to narrow it down.

This highly depends on what your funding situation is. If what you need is money, cater to the users who’ll give you money If money right now isn’t critical, then you go figure out which (or if!) one of the three user types frigging *love* your product right now, and then you cater to them
