VR isn’t just games and immersion. It’s social animation. VR gives every user an accessible animation studio to create social 3D shorts.

When you start a VR studio, you’re actually starting a media company. There are only so many VR headsets and users. Getting users to care requires a constant content pipeline from your studio to where your users/players/customers are hanging out online. Luckily, VR makes great video and we are living in the best possible time for short-form video creation! From the second you start creating, you should be capturing video IRL and in VR. Chop those recordings up and post them everywhere, multiple times every day. You never know what will work, when or on what platform. Over time, you will quickly learn what works in the content. Then the content and the comments will begin to inform what you code. VR projects should ultimately be bent to the content that performs best. This is what we do at Throwback Studios! Video and entertainment comes first! We work this way because you can reach so many more flat screens through video than you can reach VR users in headsets.

The top request I'm hearing from VR developers: "I need a good video editor."

What is different about culture now where people complain that things are “cash grabs”? Video games, movies… what has shifted to cause people to get upset that products are made to make money?

Comedians figured out that building a team to pump out a steady stream of clips from podcasts and gigs would make them enough money so they wouldn't have to do TV/movies where they give up creative freedom to big studios. This process is starting with game devs.

Been thinking a lot about Throwback Studios’ product, end-goal and why we use VR as our medium.

First Throwback Studios Youtube video shot and now starting the edit. It’s clear that capturing compelling content in VR means we need to be able to throw way more cameras into scenes. The content management across shots is pretty gnarly. Need to find the pain points to solve them.
