Whoever hits the most home runs in a day in Derby gets their username on the blimp. Ultimate troll.

New camera mod for Derby VR! Operating the camera should feel like being part of the game! It should feel like a character!

I don’t usually have AI ideas, but I’ve been thinking how you could use it for the ideal content flywheel. I want an AI agent podcast that’s streaming 24/7 on TikTok/Youtube/Twitch. Always live, always being clipped and posted while live, always interacting with chat.

We talk about bot problems but we don’t talk about humans who are also “bots.” People who understand they’re incentivized to post a certain take at a certain moment to take advantage of the moment. Finding myself consuming less because so much content feels disingenuous.

I’m learning that a lot of people need dual/layered feedback loops to do what they want to do. We do this to reduce the fear of failure. It’s hard to be a content creator, so people apply to be approved content creators for games. Their videos might stink, but they have the stamp of approval from that game studio… so they keep making videos to stay part of the group. It’s hard to make a good game, so people will make a YouTube video about making their game. Usually the video will perform better than the game. The video’s good performance will make the game’s failure more palatable.

I was chatting with a MLB trainer last night. Loved this quote: “Every player thinks they should be developed. No team wants to develop a player. They want sure things. Undeniable players. You need to show you’re developing yourself AND that you’re a sure-thing.” Applies to a lot of pursuits!

It is not hard to take a video or make a game now. It is hard to make great videos and games. A lot of tools are being built to help players capture and create. Capturing and creating isn’t enough. The best tools make your creation great and perform well where it matters to the you and your peers.

Grandfather chat tonight: “FGM. Fun, Glory and Money. Everything you do needs to include two of these things or else it’s a waste of time.”

If someone is right and they told you so… Tell them they were right and they told you so! They will feel validated and insanely bought-in.

Have been in a VR game dev version of writers block for a few weeks. Did a big brand camp, brainstorm thing with my cofounder and feeling creatively recharged and ready for action. Really helpful to have people you can turn to when you’re trying to take things to the next level and don’t quite know how you’ll do it yet.

A lot of players see VR as their ticket to becoming a Youtube/TikTok creator. The point of playing a popular game is to create a viral video. The point of making a fan game is to make a “how I made a fan game” video that gets them a lot of views/subs on Youtube.

The VR experience you create is your and your players’ content studio. The game is the engine that drives all the content. Every person who plays your experience has a camera attached to their faces. It’s your job to get them to hit record, edit and post it. That’s the game.
