my dad just asked me this on the spot and I fumbled: how do you describe Farcaster in one sentence to a non-crypto person?

is that even possible?! what would you say?

- open rails to build any kind of social experience
- a social economy of people creating, sharing, and earning(not the best wording but I love the social economy angle)

its like twitter meets reddit with mini apps similar to early facebook (farmville, poking, buy zora posts, etc.) and the easiest place to earn on social (top casters get up to $300 a week, sent same day directly to your in-app wallet.

Social media that can’t be taken away from you because an eccentric billionaire decided to buy it.

I usually say social media for nerds and no further questions are asked

I just say twitter with mini apps, as the wallet and crypto stuff is rarely interesting for people outside of crypto (in fact I think it should be possible to have a non-crypto feed)

The way I actually explain it is (not a one liner): I sell candles. People pay me on Warpcast for candles. When they pay me, I get their username so I can put them in a group chat with me where we talk about candles. Since I have all of their usernames, I can invite them to special events IRL where only they have access to me. It’s how I explain interop, which is most important to me as a founder

Remember when you used to network by going to events, hoping those efforts could be rewarded somehow? Eg. Through a job or a great connection.
