Very stoked to share that I'm joining the Ethereum Foundation's Protocol Support team. I'm super excited to work with a team of people who I've long admired and with core devs who are doing much of the hard work in Ethereum /eth-staker is a precious resource in supporting the decentralization of Ethereum's consensus layer and communicating with stakers, so I'll spend the next four months transitioning away from my full time role and making sure that we're well set for minimal turbulence. After that, I'll remain involved as a volunteer (as I was when I first started!) EthStaker's strength is its community. My most important roles in this community have been to keep close contact with stakers, keep up with research to make sure that stakers are well supported and represented, and to make sure that our long-time members have what they need to provide technical support and tooling to stakers đŸ§” [ 1 / 2 ]

My post from 1.5 years about "assessing demand drivers for ETH" had the line "Needless to say, we’ll need to wait for EIP-4844 to assess this." Now that EIP-4844 is out for half a year, it's indeed time to do so. As such, I'd downgrade the significance of "L2 fee burns" from 2/10 to 1/10. While it's very likely demand for blobspace is gradually going up, supply is up even more with PeerDAS imminent, plus full sharding & Nielsen's Law making blob count up only. Cross-L2 interoperability has also been much less required than anticipated, as most users are happy to stick to their chosen L2, or bridge between only occasionally So, why was I (mildly) wrong? I did not fully understand the concept of strict global consensus then, which I only wrote about in depth later in 2023. With a better grasp of the true demand landscape for blobspace, the 1/10 is obvious Also, this is great for Ethereum/ETH in the same way as building public roads https://polynya.mirror.xyz/GPC26Y_rlwCyPpj_N3HeW_izY1-pIVwKW5bjuPNrGeQ

Telegram just walked back their promise not to share user chats in response to law enforcement requests. On the one hand, surprised that they put an illegal policy in writing (i.e. it's illegal to ignore law enforcement information requests in, among many places, France. On the other hand, removing the policy implies guilt? Is Durov angling for a plea deal? https://x.com/tier10k/status/1831864963704746356

This week at /quilibrium - Updated the go-libp2p-stack repo with all the findings from the battery of tests: https://github.com/QuilibriumNetwork/go-libp2p-stack - Some important last minute findings around the offline prover model are forcing us to revisit a few design assumptions, more info here: https://quilibrium.discourse.group/t/psa-2-0-launch-steps/486/71 - Evaluated Risc0 integration (hard pass, too slow) - Evaluated SP1 integration (hard pass, too slow, no continuations) It's been the most brutal, humbling, glass-eating week I've had so far, but the words of encouragement, support, and understanding (and memes) have meant a lot. We're almost at the finish line, and I will accept nothing less than success in our mission.
