99% of users don't care about decentralization. Developers care about decentralization. Users want to be entertained or make money.

imho, I'd push back and say that users don't care about decentralization 99% of the time. there's plenty of centralized platforms that have unambiguously failed to maintain ToS (or purged some subculture). the irony is that it's more likely the more superfluous the object.

is this a statement, an opinion? this worldview sucks users care about what you tell them to care about everybody wants to be entertained and make money that is not isolated to a user again when I first got in crypto it was about aligned interests, it seems many founders have forgotten that.

Right now, people use Warpcast to make money because there isnโ€™t a nickelโ€™s worth of entertainment here.

99% of users didnโ€™t care about worldwide connectivity. Developers did, and they built on the internet until the users followed. Now users gasp if they are ever disconnected. Devs are the canary in the coal mine. In 30 years users will gasp if people ask them to buy a digital good that can be taken away.

Yes & might extend what users care about to Dave McClureโ€™s Made Laid Paid Do users feel the same way about privacy as they feel about decentralization?

Very true but I wonder in the 99% what is the % that doesn't understand decentralization. 'Users' are not exposed to the benefits as much as the financial opportunities and ways to get entertained. Imo decentralization needs to be simple with a clear upside. Developers are also users but sometimes too 'technical'.

100% of users don't care about decentralization until their centralized thing inevitably gets a change in management, then 100% care about decentralization suddenly. Maybe the difference is that developers get to experience the pain of centralization a bit sooner, since all regimes are default adversarial to them.

Agree. I'm more interested in what building on top of decentralized/permissionless stacks enable. As a developer, what value can you provide to users (both monetary and experiential) that isn't easy to replicate on centralized systems due to their business model and closeness.

This suggests: Onchain builders should always be trying to figure out how to let users have fun and/or make money *in a way that is uniquely enabled by being onchain.* Otherwise, what's the point? PS - Such opps defffff exist.

True that! Decentralization is like the secret sauce for developers, while most users are just here for the fries and the fun ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
