What is the most frustrating thing about Farcaster right now? Reply and like the replies from others that resonate. I’ll only ask clarifying questions (ie I won’t tell you you’re wrong) and then respond to a dozen or so top answers in a video this weekend with how we think about it.

The fact that users have to pay just to create an account, there’s no “free trial” I know you guys are working on driving down the cost but it’s still unclear what the incentive is for non-WC apps to use FC for identity given that it adds friction and the value ultimately accrues to Merkle

For Warpcast: replies are second-class citizens even though that’s where most of the interesting interactions happen Too much focus on top-level “bangers” and one level of reply bumping isn’t enough Usually the deeper the reply thread the more engaging it gets, would love to see a UX oriented around that

Hard to form connections. I’m not interested in growing a following, so much as connecting with like minded people. It’s probably more of a me problem, not a protocol problem. I’m hoping the recent channel changes allow more interest-based connection.

1. The protocol should theoretically allow for simple transactions to be seamless and they are not. Kind of a crypto problem. 2. Scanning channels is burdensome, making #3 worse 3. My actions create a worse algo. I’ll like casts to support people or because I’m influenced by their momentum. I’d like an aspirational feed rather than a reflective feed.

I seem to miss a lot of content now that I’d previously see…my notifications have gone pretty quiet and I’m not sure what the root cause of it might be

I feel that signers are a ticking bomb. Very low visibility on what signed with with signer, who has a signer you have approved, what will happen if you remove it, etc. Maybe it's my OCD (I only have it for this type of things), but it stops me from feeling free to use stuff.

One of the most frustrating things about Farcaster right now is the new channels feature. It’s frustrating when a channel that should be 'community-owned' ends up being locked down by an 'owner' (often early FID but ...) who limits it to just 10 or 50 members able to post. If a channel is meant to serve the broader community, it shouldn’t be locked or controlled by a single owner. Would love to see more flexibility and openness in how these channels are managed.

Wasting time thinking about what channel to post to. I like channels, but that should be auto done by an AI and happen AFTER the post.

I'll echo what you've repeatedly mentioned in the past: not enough great content, (particularly in a bull market, when speculation fills the air). As a corollary: I think the channels experiment (regardless of outcome) has forked both Merkle's and users' focus on content discovery between channels & better feed(s).

WC seems more segmented and discovery is harder- what I liked about initial iteration of channels is that I could reply to a cast in, lets say, the NYC channel and connect with new people (community centered). Now they likely won't even see my cast if I'm not a member first (which is fine for some channels but should have the option to have previous dynamic also)

Protocol governance seems a bit opaque & def centralized w zero commitments (that I’ve heard) to decentralize. The protocol is TOO BIG. I admire the ambition but break this shit up. Consider: Identity Verify-Store-Sync (☝️assuming channels land here) Private/group Messaging Protocol revenue centralized. Consider apps that onboard users keep the revenue. Govern some of these ‘unique’ protocols less often. The protocol should not need a paid staff once hardened. ok maybe an admin but no devs as goal. Please don’t create ICANN. All said with admiration & 💜

How you can't participate in a channel centered around a topic if you aren't invited by the host/don't get along with the host/etc If your favorite niche topic is calligraphy and you come here for that and can't contribute, that's a bummer

Followers being 70% bots, inflating follower counts. No ability to block even if you wanted to manually cull the herd.
