Update on Warpcast home feeds

Based on feedback, we've:

- Turned off recommendations (since a lot of them were spammy rn)
- Turned off replies + reply bumping
- Tweaked the algo to de-dupe recasts

Please let me know if things are better or worse!

The alternative is a pure algorithmic feed.

Much easier to start with a feed of people who represent the best of the network and unfollow.

We tested both and auto-follow users stay around at a much higher rate. (People are lazy and don't follow enough people.)

Invited 3 people today all joined but are not happy with the fact that they were automatically following ~70 accounts upon sinning up

We previously took a recent reply from someone you follow and bumped the old cast + reply as a conversation unit back to the top of your feed.

We will like bring this back but in a smarter way (based on the people you most interact with).

What will direct us to new content if it isn’t recommendations? I don’t mind a bit of “you might enjoy …” type of algorithm posts

feed is definitely calmer but i can't help but feel like i'm missing a lot of stuff from the ppl i follow now (⌒_⌒;) not sure what the balance would be. maybe replies on but able to mute loud/irrelevant-to-me channels that my follows may participate in

It’s very short now… i constantly hit the end of it. 😞 

Also I noticed I cannot boost anymore in a channel. Replaced by pin? Same meaning?

If recommendations are turned off, what determines the sequence of items in your feed? Reverse chronological order of casts from those you follow?

My home feed (desktop) feels short. It ends after about 30-50 casts and doesn't reload any new ones.

Would be interesting to one you to choose different algos and compare them for yourself.

i.e. have two tabs each with a different algo and after get direct feedback on what people like better
