Rajasthan is mostly desert and very arid. Defo can’t grow rice there and very hard to grow much in general. Ergo, need more efficient calorie and protein intake, which entails meat?

Hi Dan!! Well the wheat vs rice is spot on. The state of Jammu kashmir i believe is one of the heaviest consumer of rice where rice is even included in the breakfast. While the graphical representation suggests that Maharashtra and Jammu-Kashmir predominantly have vegetarians, it is important to note that both states actually have a significant number of meat eaters.

This surprises me as northern Indian tends to be heavier in meats than southern Indian cuisine

As a vegetarian, it was so convenient eating in Mumbai. Almost all foods had a green dot for vegetarian or a red triangle if they had meat. I wish restaurants in the US would do this, there are so many surprise hidden meats!

Individually both make perfect sense, but yeah like when you look at them at the same time, it looks like a conspiracy lol.
