Rajasthan is mostly desert and very arid. Defo can’t grow rice there and very hard to grow much in general. Ergo, need more efficient calorie and protein intake, which entails meat?

If you have really fertile land, you can grow food. If you don’t, you have to hunt it (or buy in the modern era)
