A few years ago, I had the privilege of meeting a remarkable woman who entrusted me with her deeply complex life story. I titled this portrait series “Life with a Clean Slate.” A 43-year-old Maria (name changed), is a woman courageously rebuilding her life after serving a maximum sentence for killing her abusive husband. One of the greatest challenges for someone like Maria is breaking free from the weight of her past—the suffocating narrative and the relentless burden of judgment that follows. Yet, moving forward requires acknowledging that, no matter how painful, shameful or horrific, the past is ultimately just a story—one that has already been written. 1/2 🧵

Sometimes—or dare I say always—when things don’t go as planned, it’s because something even better is waiting to happen. When Lethu and I met, the perfectly overcast sky suddenly gave way to an unrelenting, merciless sun. None of the visuals I had pictured came to life—the sun was too harsh, Lethu couldn’t float as we had envisioned, and the lilies were gone. I’m visiting my grandma this morning. Every day, for several hours, her 90-year-old boyfriend, Paul Herber, comes to see her. Despite his age, he still drives and maintains a small farm. Each morning, he brings her fresh milk from his only cow, and then they sit together and read. My grandma just turned 96 and has poor vision, but doctors have refused to operate due to her advanced age. So, Paul reads to her every day—his favorite romance booklets. Having never married, he has a deep love for stories about love. It’s heartwarming to sit here and witness this quiet, intimate ritual—the tenderness between two elderly people, sharing time in such a simple yet profound way. Germany 2025

Among the endless beauty and art Paris has to offer, I stumbled upon this gem—an absolute winner in my book. This place is a perfect example of how the right presentation and curation can elevate a good product to the next level. The best art I saw? A BAKERY. See for yourself! (Though this video hardly does justice to how incredible this place truly is.)

Arrived in Paris today by train from Germany for a few days to attend NFT Paris! The first person I met was the amazing @ambi, and in just a few hours, we managed to see half of Paris on foot, eat some eclairs, admire a classic Parisian street dumpster, and even crash a birthday party Tomorrow, I’m heading to the @rodeodotclub event‼️ More pics 👇

This morning, I had a long brainstorming session with the Documentary Photography Museum in Tallinn, Estonia, preparing for my upcoming exhibition in August. We spoke so much about my grandfather that my longing to create a project about him and my home country is becoming overconsuming. When I visited Estonia in 2021, I shot mostly on film—it felt like the right approach for a place where time still moves more slowly. I had an innate urge to simplify, to slow down. Now, I’m pulling every string possible to spend two months there this summer, giving myself the space to sink deeper into the mood, flow, and poetry of this Nordic terrain and its quiet yet warm people. When we take the time to genuinely get to know someone, making them feel seen and valued, it can have a more empowering effect than many assume. By reflecting the good we see in a person and sharing what we admire about their unique life path, we can build people up. Just as people can tell when we judge them or don’t see them as equals, they also know when they are liked and appreciated for who they truly are.
