How often do you go on team offsites, and for how long? After going on our first offsite I realized I've underrated how valuable they can be.

I like a cadence of 2-3 times a year. I did once a season and it started to feel more like a chore. They are invaluable, especially for a remote team. Those bonds you make flow into every other aspect of your work. Without them, youโ€™re just a team. With them, youโ€™re a crew.

Quarterly early on. Doesn't always have to be off sites but seeing each other at conferences etc. When COVID hit we lost that rhythm and it took us a long time to realize how much we were missing from that.

We're mostly remote with several small clusters and it's definitely invaluable! We've been doing them local to our clusters which is fun because we also get to see and learn about the places our teams live in. We do some version of this every couple of months - but have conferences often as another rallying point.

It's pretty common here in my local area. We do have something called "team building" of the team and of the company. For the team it could be small events such as night out together, karaoke (we love karaoke)... or a weekend getaway. For the whole company it would be a super huge events full of games, music and ...tbc
