I’m more… I don’t want to say cautious, but at least conscientious about how I’m using AI these days (am I shortcutting some important aspects of skill development?) how about you?

I'm definitely learning a lot of new things, deliberately, so easy deep dive without filtering through purple and blue urls on google search Shower thoughts become deep dives every day, that's how i keep my brain alive

dumber? i dunno. lazier maybe? but it's left to interpretation. i personally use AI to streamline most tasks. does that make me dumber? i don't think so. like you said about the calculator and computer, AI is taking away the labor-intensive part of tasks. wow. i'm actually not sure. mm. does it take away (critical) thinking? or does it enhance it? because i use AI to organise some complex thoughts i have and it's been super useful. but now, i'm thinking that about whether it takes away the joy of just sitting with your thoughts and ruminating over them (think Greek philosophers). and is this a good thing or bad? wow. (i'm sorry. i'm rambling.) 😂

I have never found it good at contradicting me I have to explicitly tell it to, and in that case it’s still following orders? Makes it hard to trust results for things when I don’t have a good background in the subject already Classic internet research problem!!!

Mixed bag. AI has eroded the little trust I had in info on the internet. The contributors to the most noise online are exploiting this tech to make online spaces even more unenjoyable. Sure it helps me output edits and emails quicker. I refine & adapt meal prep schedules too. But I don't think the benefits are proportional to the costs just yet. AI needs to be a lot more recent, and a lot more intelligent. And I'm a little scared that we're going to get diminishing returns sooner rather than later

I was eavesdropping on a Religion and AI conference the other day and there was discussion about whether AI was dehumanising people or whether it was elevating people in pursuit to becoming more of the "Perfect Human" a "complete body", a pursuit to be close to what was imagined in the eyes of god. I thought it was quite thought provoking. Also has been discussion in the education sector that currently educational frameworks aren't up to date with AI technology where it's been tracked that students are handing in AI generated reports/homework with nothing the teachers with current rules can do anything about it. So if not doing homework and using your own brain makes you dumber, I think that would be the answer. Dumber maybe, lazier for sure. Unless we use that open time to do productive things in another field.

I think it’s quite subjective, AI helps increase productivity but can also make you much lazier

Hmmm I’ve been thinking about this too actually, ensuring it doesn’t impede my personal growth Like, yeah, AI is fun and super useful, but sometimes I pause and wonder if I’m skipping steps I should be struggling through, over resilience… I’m trying to use it more like a co-pilot, not a substitute teacher. Balance is everything I guess.
