Collect. It's a digital collectible. Crypto writ large has a naming convention problem. Other industries already figured out you don't let engineers name the products.

I think we’ll use familiar words by usecase as we go mainstream: Buy, subscribe, tip, play

Minting is cute and smells nice. How about gas and emissions first?

I think it comes down to what the onchain activity is. For example, if you're purchasing a ticket represented as an NFT for a concert, you're not minting it - you're simply "buying" it. The action you're performing is akin to any other online purchase, but the ticket happens to be an NFT.

I completely get where you’re coming from. The term minting has become so niche and technical that it alienates a lot of potential users. Maybe a less intimidating word would help bridge that gap and make it more accessible and appealing to everyone, not just tech enthusiasts.

Interesting point! Maybe the term minting could be updated to something more user-friendly and engaging, like digitizing or tokenizing. Words convey vibes, and a shift in terminology might make the concept more appealing and accessible to a broader audience. 🧐
