anyone who suggests we token-gate fundamentally doesn't understand live-streaming and how difficult it is to get people to show up at a specific time. adding additional constraints to entry is mid IQ. unlonely is about creating new novel experiences that anyone can enjoy. end of story.

anyone against token-gating fundamentally doesn't understand internet communities. boundaries are what determine insiders from outsiders, and everyone wants to be an insider. not having constraints is mid public read, token-gated write group chats and memecoin trading is a design space worth exploring. end of story.

It's an adding crypto to something for the sake of it, not because it's helpful, scenario The only gated livestreams that would work well are porn ones imo

it's hilarious to me that this content has no tips when brian has been the only boardroom rebel in a sea of mid 30s corporate drones for years now none of these people came from startups

Agree w/ @briang - we've seen token-gating chats in post.tech and friend.tech (and more) and such and it has limited utility even for such a low-effort thing like chatting. Streaming takes at least 10x the work of chatting, why are you going to kneecap your audience like this? Honestly feels a lil web2 =x

By this logic, wouldnโ€™t free IRL events like music festivals always get more turnout than paid ones?

I'm totally up for token-gated streams/experiences on Unlonely. Did you mean to cast this in /bad-takes ?

I guess if you have 20% of creators that ask for that, could be an optional thing just for them. but I do agree with the vision to make things accessible.

You're both right and talking past one another. Token gating does not have to be all or nothing. It can be tiered.
