I think the main thing is that they are both, as well as extended reality/metaverse, seen as part of the new wave of the internet Married by area of impact, rather than type of impact or how they work

IMO it’s people seeing both as emerging deep tech with high societal impact While there is some overlap (numerai, fighting deepfakes) it’s not core Most people who lump these together are often non-technical and don’t realize how unrelated they mostly are

while I do 100% see ways in which AI and crypto can be mutually beneficial (credibly natural apis as one ex) imo the quiet part out loud is that it’s mostly cope from people who’ve bet their careers on crypto wishing they could play with AI

They are both huge technological tsunamis that are starting to swallow up everything and people are scared. Until 2022 it was just crypto they were scared of... now they're scared of both. If a third thing enters the fray, most ppl will spend their whole lives scared! Oh wait... 🤔
