do any other creative people here find that they jump around different creative activities and struggle to stick with one? a few weeks ago I was in a massive rabbit hole of teaching myself 3D (something I will definitely go back to at some point - just not been doing it recently!). now i'm all-in on web design again.

I think initially it felt this way. As my practice developed I understood that this is the natural cycle of creativity. Jumping between skills isnโ€™t always a lack of focus, it can also be a way of building foundational knowledge, taste, tool mastery etc. A lot of that is a subtle transversal skill where every โ€˜detourโ€™ adds to your creative repertoire, even if it doesnโ€™t feel linear.

my in-progress crochet snood/balaclava is feeling seen, yet neglected right now ๐Ÿ˜‚ And before that I was in my painting era, oop. I think itโ€™s nice to dip in and out of new skills and projects though!

So bad. I was all in on frames and got burnt out by smart contract complexities and social media in general so I've pivoted completely to learning game development in Godot for the last week. I have to go back tho

all the time. iโ€™m currently working on two very different artwork styles, i was sculpting (very amateurishly) air dry clay sometime back, rabit holed illustrator lessons before that, now i have an intense urge to try embroidery. this applies to my reading style too, i almost always read two very diff styles of books simultaneously. iโ€™ve come to the conclusion that i need pet projects/books to see me through the larger ones

I think it's good for creativity to bounce around. Your unconscious is working on "abandoned" projects even if you're not aware of it.
