randomly came across this video whilst clearing storage from my phone tonight. a random fact that not many ppl in web3 know about me is that i love singing and am bad at piano lol. i can't read piano sheet music very well, and just learned off youtube videos and memorised or wrote down the chords in way that's probably only comprehensible to me lool. i was proud of being able to learn Rocketman tho! ok gn!!!! πŸŒ™

rereading this text by AWS (Austin Wade Smith) on wilding the web and servers, and using one's own home-made tech stack that responds to the natural rhythms of the planet. so many great insights on how it changed their relationship with technology. https://mirror.xyz/austinwadesmith.eth/wrBCeIWNsXbseQiLBj5jR_bkMFZ03nNYs4rg0lU8X2s

started reading 'Aesthetics and Politics', a series of essays and debates by Theodor Adorno, Walter Benjamin, Ernst Bloch, Bertolt Brecht and Georg LukΓ‘cs about art and culture during the World Wars. as fascism is on the rise, i've been reflecting on which artistic movements will be the 'champions' for fascism in the 21st century, and which movements will be vehemently against it. are we already at that point where we need to start thinking and writing about these things? or can we hope that the fascist tendencies in politics and tech are a disgusting blip in our contemporary history and it'll wash over with the next administrations? as a side note, i fear crypto art may be considered in retrospect as the face of fascism as it stands now.

throughout art history, when a particular type of presentation or curation wasn't working or wasn't achievable for an artist/curator, they imagined up a new method of presenting and curating work. When Gustave Courbet was refused from the prestigious Salon in 1855, he opened his own 'Pavilion du RΓ©alisme' right next to it. Seth Siegelaub curated an exhibition as a published book (the Xerox book). When Iris Clert had to close her gallery, she bought a transparent truck and presented works in a 'travelling gallery'. Hans Ulrich Obrist organised his first exhibition in his kitchen. if you don't have access or connections to a gallery space, what are some ways to present your work that *are* achievable for you?

βš”οΈ making the mint page for @tinyrainboot's upcoming collection, 'even the devil once had wings', was INSANELY fun. @manifoldxyz's diverse listing widgets allowed tons of flexibility for us to create a self-hosted, custom page on tiny's website that truly reflects the narrative of the collection. mobile optimisation was a challenge, as the 3D objects were too heavy and wouldn't load. found a solution by integrating the source .png images of the manifold listings and integrating them via html/css + adding a link to Manifold to interact with the 3D objects directly. i'm really thankful to @tinyrainboot for contacting me for this and providing me with an opportunity to put my (beginner!!) html/css skills to work! a lot of googling and asking AI for help, but i'm so proud of the results. hope you enjoy the collection!! & mark your calendars for the 22 FEB. βš”οΈ

BLOG by /lanparty just hit 100 subscribers today! πŸ₯³ some notes: ✦ 13/100 subscribers are subbed through @hypersub ✦ that means 87% of our current subscribers came to us through Substack ✦ 100% of @hypersub subscribers are paid subscribers ✦ 1 (1%) Substack subscriber is paid most of our revenue from BLOG by LAN Party clearly comes from Hypersub, whilst Substack's distribution and reach is just unbeatable. it will be interesting to see at which point free subscribers on Substack convert to paid subscribers, and if we can continue to attract new Hypersub subscribers to sustain what we earn through our newsletter.
