First contact—melting bronze at home. Struggling with getting enough heat into the piece, but it kinda works. I think I need to go hotter with the flame generally, bigger on the flame, direct the flame down into the piece, and hold it a bit further back. I’m realizing that this may be a particularly tricky joint to heat because of all the surface contact between the pieces, but hoping I can save it with another pass. 

Seemed like how things attached to the table played a pretty big role in heat distribution

Finally shooting flames in the garage!

This is a big step for me towards my goals for the year. Got some solid SOPs documented for safely igniting and extinguishing and we’re cooking with gas. Looking forward to the weekend for some more time to start brazing.

Spent some time this morning making vector files to order laser cut bases for all my bike frame building tools. Looking to create interchangeable mounts for my fixture table.

Ripped some bayou trails this afternoon ⚡️

I spent the morning in the garage knocking some todos off the list. 

Cutting some new tube holding blocks out of wood and trying to figure out how to make the most of this fixture table.

Getting better at measuring with lots of repetition.

Slow recovery ride with the Coffee & Bikes crew to close out the week.

I made a particulate filter holder for an old oscillating fan I’ve got in the garage. 

Love cardboard as a prototyping medium.

A bit sore from weights yesterday but still got some good base miles in on the local loop tonight.

Been iterating on this for the last week or so, and it’s finally starting to align with my vision for a patch design. Still a work in progress, particularly on the words. 

I’m going for a special-ops ‘Lockheed Skunk Works’ look with a glowing green arrow and purple network imagery and what's meant to say “Together Higher” in Latin. I'm realizing that it may translate back into something quite different… so I may just revert back to plain English 😂 maybe someone more scholarly could help me out with the Latin?

Rain tonight made it a good one for a quick garage workout. 

Working in some strength training feels like something I should do more of. Searched for a couple minutes before landing on this guided kettlebell circuit and cooldown. Not bad but I’ll keep looking for ones my more vibe. Any recommendations?

Dang. Hit some tough truth in the garage this evening. Sourcing a bunch of esoteric parts from different vendors doesn’t always come together as planned. I thought I’d be shooting flames with my new torch setup this week but the last 2 parts aren’t fitting the way they should be. Both parts #s on my packing lists seem right but neither is actually labeled and one’s gotta be incorrect. Had to be the hardest to procure, slowest to ship pieces too. 

Got the IDs and ODs measured and an email scheduled for the am to figure this out, but bummed nonetheless…
