I have some ideas for AI-proof interviewing. But I’d like to hear yours.

1. In person 2. Work trial -- who cares if you use AI -- as long as you ship high quality work

Use a work sample that can be generated by AI, but use the interview time for a discussion about tradeoffs and choices made to produce the work. Using AI is fine, but not understanding the output from AI or being able to have a conversation about the result is a no go.

proof of passion - an interviewee can walk an interviewer through his or her personal knowledge graph, segmented by topic. ex. if the individual claims to be an expert on open source software, they should already have a dense network of notes / work devoted to subsegment ‘software licensing methodologies’

We've been building out a guide for this but I'm not sure how to distribute. It's cat and mouse and if we openly share learnings we're telling people how to avoid detection.

It’d be cool if there was a third-party service that companies could hire to keep interviews remote while having someone physically present with the interviewee to ensure they’re not using AI. The interviewee could meet the third-party rep at a local coffee shop, their home, or anywhere convenient.

Sounds like a question for AI In all seriousness though: 1. live practical exercises 2. show your work 3. personalized and non-technical questions

The good old way, in person. This should also be the preferred way to hire fully remote employees still.

By AI-proof do you mean detecting deepfakes in online calls? Or finding people who love to do grunt work without augmenting their productivity with AI? :)

Agent as the interviewer. Natural language interactions with a summary output for final human edit is what I’ve been chewing on. I just had a doctor ask if it was okay to use AI to lead triage in an ER. Nurse took my vitals and the rest was a voice interaction with the agent. Doctor came in read the summary and wrote a script.

Well, it wasn't initially meant for AI proofing but IIT Madras used to ask its students to set up multiple cameras to get a clear view of the room and the computer screen. And asked students to run a screen grabbing software and they also monitored if a student was switching tabs or windows. it worked perfectly in most cases, probably because students didn't want to risk getting thrown out of the program.

Don’t… incorporate usage of AI in the interview. You want candidates that can use all the tools to get to the finish line, and that ibcludes AI
