This is one of the scariest charts I’ve seen lately Animals become reclusive when they are scared or hurt — seeing the broader society send the same signal is a harbinger of things to come The lack of physical connection is directly upstream of polarization, brain rot, collapse of trust, and all the other “discrete” issues

Another adjacent article for why we need to spend more time with friends, esp those who might challenge and not always have the same views as we do https://timharford.com/2024/03/why-friends-are-always-right-no-matter-their-views/ Good days when we were kids and could hang out with friends all afternoon, doing nothing special at all.

nothing to do with the advance of tech? with younger people leading the change. they play fornite with their friends instead meeting them to do whatever.. streamings.. social media.. and, then covid just accelerated it for not younger people? the individualism that society promotes may help too.. 🤔

Would there be a deeper, seemingly disconnected reason? For example, some analysts show 2008 is the peak of conventional petrol extraction (meaning the globe is extracting less petrol per year since then; excluding some recent, limited practices in North America). Everything depends on petrol, notably most economies. Less petrol would mean less activity, cutting jobs. This looks sadly coherent with the curve trend…

Interestingly enough, the Internet was invented to connect, yet apps are more disconnecting ppl as they are capitalizing on connections
